The 36-Foot Spear: Combat Archery Resources

Possible Upcoming Changes

The process of getting changes made in rules is a long process involving many steps. It does not happen overnight. When a rule or change is posted in the Pale that is the final step and it is now the"official" rule. This final step is sometimes the first time that combat archers even know it is coming. The following is an attempt to give the combat archers more of a "heads up" that this may be coming.

The following are changes that are in the works and will "probably" become rules. By posting the following it in no way says they will be the new rules or even in this form. This posting is to give combat archers a heads up before they use electrical tape to secure the head of an approved head onto a combat arrow or bolt when we know that strapping tape has always been the standard and will "probably" be the standard in writing. The Earl Marshal and his DEM for Combat Archery have agreed in principal for these changes or rules and the Earl Marshal will be starting the process for approval.

New! Combat Archery Fiberglass Ammunition Experimental Weapon Standards

The following changes will be included in the next Marshal's Handbook update.

Combat Archery Ammunition:

Only fiberglass-reinforced tape (strapping tape) is legal to secure the approved heads onto the sil-o-flex.  Electrical tape is NOT to be used on securing the head onto the shaft.

Combat Archery Bows / Crossbows

All Middle Kingdom Heavy combat crossbows must have their right prod covered with at least 4 inches (10 cm) of red material (tape, cloth, etc) to show marshals at a glance they are heavy crossbow.

The following changes are still under discussion.

EQUIPMENT INSPECTION GUIDELINES
